Matthew: Now you, my friend, are enterprise transformation with a strong emphasis on digital transformation. When we look at AI, we look at the org, we look at just digital transformation as a whole, what are you seeing right now?
Lee Cage Jr.: Transformation, modernization, optimization, all of those very fancy words only happen if something changes inside of the organization, its culture or the way that they do business. So a lot of my job is helping them understand and break up with their past way of doing certain things.
There are some people who say best practice. I think there are some leading practices, but best practice in some cases assumes that you have the same budget, the same competency, the same capabilities as the other organization you are comparing yourself to. So I like to say leading practice tied to a specific industry.
I love nonprofits and healthcare, but I have done commercial, I have done a couple of very large automotive companies, helping them transform the way that they do business, leveraging technology as a connector to do it.
So a lot of what I am telling my customers is, one, are your people on board with this transformation? Two, what does the future look like tomorrow? What does it look like in six months? What does it look like next year? What does it look like in two years?
If you are just doing a lock and shift, well we are just going to transfer this process over to this new system, you have not transformed anything. If your business processes are still the same and it still takes an act of Congress to get something done in your organization, that is not transformation.
Does your training and development or L&D people understand the competency and reasonableness of your population? In some cases, what I have seen is that people significantly underestimate the competency and reasonableness of their staff.
