I'm in Kansas City. So hiring a software developer in Kansas City versus San Francisco is at least like fifty percent more expensive. My entire career I've never understood, why would I hire developers in Silicon Valley for so much more money than I would hire them here in Kansas City? I've never understood it. Now add AI to it, where the developers are so much more productive, it's even more so. Why would I hire a developer in San Francisco who spends most of their time staring at Claude all day, having Claude help write code? It has never made complete sense to me. Why would you hire people in the most expensive place on earth to hire them? So I understand why San Francisco is struggling that way, Seattle and different big cities. Now think about globally. People have been hiring offshore. India is the big one that people always talk about. And using AI, those developers are more productive than they've ever been before.
